South Asia
South Asia is one of the most climate-vulnerable regions facing recurring climate-induced extreme weather events such as heatwaves, cyclones, and floods. These events strain the adaptive capacities of communities and governments, exposing millions to increased risks. As climate change intensifies, the lives and livelihoods of approximately 800 million people are expected to deteriorate further, exacerbating food insecurity, water scarcity, and socio-economic vulnerabilities.
At IFSD, we are committed to tackling these challenges through contextual analyses of regional vulnerabilities while identifying opportunities for impactful actions. By fostering knowledge-sharing and delivering targeted training programs, we empower communities and institutions to build local capacities for developing and implementing sustainable, locally-driven solutions. Our efforts focus on enhancing climate resilience, equitably restoring ecosystems, and strengthening governance frameworks to tackle the multifaceted impacts of climate change.
Our focus areas in South Asia region include:
- Water Security
- Climate Adaptation
- Loss and Damage
- Ecosystem Restoration
- Governance and Policy Analysis
- Gender and Social Inclusion
Currently, IFSD is actively engaged in Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, collaborating with local partners to implement impactful climate solutions that drive resilience and sustainability across the region.
