South East Asia
Southeast Asia is one of the most disaster-prone regions, with climate change intensifying the frequency and severity of floods, droughts, and storms. According to the Asian Development Bank, climate-induced disasters could displace millions and push an additional 11 million people into poverty by 2030. The region’s dense population, low-lying coastal zones, and dependency on natural resources for economic development further amplify vulnerabilities, disrupting livelihoods and limiting access to basic needs such as food and water.
At IFSD, we are committed to addressing these interconnected challenges by fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among diverse stakeholders across the region. We work to promote cross-sectoral cooperation, develop innovative and sustainable solutions, and integrate equitable practices to build climate resilience and empower communities.
Our focus areas in South East Asia region include:
- Water Security
- Climate Justice
- Loss and Damage
- Ecosystem Restoration
- Gender and Social Inclusion
Currently, IFSD is engaged in initiatives in Timor-Leste, where we collaborate with partners to implement practical and inclusive solutions.
