Gender and Social Inclusion

Overview

Climate change does not impact everyone equally; according to the UN, marginalised groups—such as women, children, the elderly, economically disadvantaged individuals, and forest-based communities—face heightened vulnerability to climate impacts. Recognising this, IFSD is committed to fostering an inclusive, climate-resilient society. By prioritising gender equity and social inclusion, IFSD empowers underrepresented voices, enabling partners to design interventions that address diverse needs and foster equitable resilience.

Our Approach

IFSD’s approach integrates gender-sensitive analysis and social equity at every project stage. We work alongside communities to identify unique risks and barriers faced by different social groups, ensuring their perspectives shape development and climate action plans. By promoting equitable participation and applying best practices in inclusion, IFSD drives initiatives that are comprehensive and responsive to the needs of marginalised groups.

Outcomes & Impact

Through our inclusive projects, IFSD has created pathways for more equitable development and resilience-building across regions. By amplifying marginalised voices and fostering social equity, our work helps communities build adaptive capacities and strengthens social cohesion, ultimately supporting a fair and inclusive transition to climate resilience.
