United Nations states that nearly 690 million people are hungry today, which is 8.9 percent of the world population. The UN further states that the world is not on track to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030, as outlined by Sustainable Development Goal 2. On the contrary, as the UN says, if recent trends continue, the number of people affected by hunger would surpass 840 million by 2030.
As the world needs more food, there is pressure on how we improve agriculture and food systems both in terms of production efficiency and distributional equity. As one of the flagships, Agrifood School undertakes research and offers solutions on sustainable agriculture and food systems innovations that also deliver equitable outcomes.
