Australia

Australia, facing substantial impacts from climate change, stands highly vulnerable due to its arid climate, natural hazards, and reliance on natural resources for economic growth. The effects of climate change manifest in more frequent and severe heatwaves, droughts, and bushfires, as well as rising sea levels and ocean acidification. The country’s economy, heavily dependent on mining, agriculture, and tourism, faces vulnerability to climate change-induced disruptions. Prolonged droughts and rising temperatures jeopardize crop yields, while severe bushfires damage infrastructure and communities.

Based in Australia, IFSD aims to employ a collaborative approach with partners to identify the areas most impacted by climate change and develop strategies, including policies and programs, to enhance resilience and adapt to changing conditions. In Australia we focus on water security, agriculture and food security, policy analysis and disaster risk.
