The 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024. IFSD, in collaboration with its partners, including the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), and the Government of Vanuatu, co-organised a session at the Canada Pavilion during the event.
Delivering Loss and Damage Finance to the Most Vulnerable: Local Insights from the Global South
Venue: Canada Pavilion
Date: November 14, 2024
Time: 17:15 to18:15 p.m. (Azerbaijan Standard Time)
The event is a cross-country loss and damage policy dialogue aimed at addressing the challenges and opportunities in delivering financing for climate-induced losses to the most vulnerable communities in the Global South. Drawing on insights from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Vanuatu, the session brings together policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to explore strategies for operationalising the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). Discussions focus on the lived realities of affected communities, policy and financing gaps, and the importance of equitable and effective solutions to support resilience and recovery.
