Managing Climate Change Risks to Water Security

The Asia-Pacific region is predicted to have a population of 5.2 billion by 2050 and host 22 megacities by 2030.

Under climate change and population growth, up to 3.4 billion people could be living in water-stressed areas of Asia by 2050, according to the Asian Development Bank 2016.

Despite some progress, 554 million people, close to the entire population of North America, do not have access to safe drinking water.

As a partner of Australian Water Partnership (AWP), IFSD is assisting AWP to assess climate change’s impact on water security, and then suggest strategies for minimizing climate change-induced water insecurity in the region.
